Chapter 10 — Ginny

There were about fifteen people in line ahead of us and I could tell Tristan was getting frustrated. “Honey, relax. These people want to get married, too.” I touched his arm, he looked down at me and a lock of hair from his Elvis-style hairdo fell onto his face.

He pushed it back with his hand and shrugged. “I don't know how he did it.”

“How who did what?”

“Elvis and his hair. I feel like I’ve still got a helmet on my head,” he laughed. “Stay here a minute.”

“Where are you going, helmet head?” I teased. I couldn’t believe he was going to leave me right in the middle of Downtown Las Vegas. Commando. “Don’t leave me here alone.”

Just then, he stepped a few feet out from the line of people and clapped his hands above his head to get people’s attention. People stopped talking and turned to see what the fuss was all about. “Hello everyone,” he said in that dreamy accent. My cheeks flushed and I wondered what the hell he was doing. “I know you’re all is here today to get a marriage license and congratulations to you all.”

I wanted to crawl up into a ball and hide. One part of me was proud to be with him and the other part was afraid of what his cheesy side would do. “My bird and I have an appointment at half past ten to walk down the aisle and be bound in blessed holy matrimony.” He looked at his watch, “That’s less than forty minutes from now so if any of you fine people are willing to give up your space in line, I’ll pay you a hundred American dollars, cash. Any takers?”

Couples immediately looked at each other, there was a mumbling then a few voices from the line called out, “Sure buddy, we’ll take it!”

“Go ahead!”

“I’m game!’

I stood in disbelief as I watched Tristan hand out what had to have been over a thousand dollars, and realized once again, what money could do. Money and his English charm that is. Next thing I knew, we were at the front of the line signing the marriage license with people behind us chatting about Tristan and how cool he was to do that. If they only knew. He kissed me after we signed the papers and everybody cheered us on as we left the courthouse and headed outside.

Tristan whispered something to the driver, we got back into the limo and headed back toward the Strip. With the privacy screen still closed, my brand new husband nuzzled my neck, nipped my ear and whispered, “Ummh...can I finish now?”

I giggled, he was so sexy, how could I say no? I’d felt naked while we were getting the license and I think he knew it because his little display in the courthouse had only made things worse. Each time he handed out money to move us further up in line, my body clenched with need for him. The people in line thought he was great.
